Tattoo Artist Job Description
We are looking to hire a skilled tattoo artist to add to our shop. The tattoo artist's responsibilities include consulting with clients to specifically design tattoos based on their ideas, following sterilization and sanitation rules, and sterilizing work areas immediately after each tattoo application. A plus would also be knowledgeable about all sterilization of all nondisposable tattoo equipment between tattoo application sessions.
Other Responsibilities:
- Scheduling appointments with clients and discussing pricing.
- Advising clients on tattoo size, color, and suitable placement.
- Maintaining supplies that are not covered by the shop to ensure you do not run out in the middle of a tattoo.
- Making and adhering to a weekly schedule
- Carefully listening to clients in order to understand their tattoo ideas.
- Showing clients tattoo designs if they don’t have any in mind.
- Stenciling the chosen designs onto clients’ skin and using a tattoo machine to create permanent designs.
- Covering recently tattooed areas with sterile dressings.
- Providing clients with instructions on how to care for newly tattooed areas.
- Keep your personal Ego in check
Tattoo Artist Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years (verified please,*references*) in shop experience
- Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) certificate.
- A well-presented portfolio, not just a social media account.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to state and federal health regulations that we use in shop.
- Excellent peer to peer skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented and artistic
- No current drug, drama, or alcohol problems
Now we are fully aware that “other shops” don’t ask for this kind of stuff from an artist. Well we do, maybe more shops should…just sayin.. This is not a beginning shop, a hang out spot, or staffed with artists that don’t know what they are doing. We are actively seeking artists to fill our chairs responsibly, professionally, and most of all friendly.
